What is the Verona Card?

The Verona Card is the official all-inclusive city pass issued by the Comune di Verona. With one ticket you get free entry to more than 15 top attractions in the historical centre, discounted access to several others, and unlimited free rides on all ATV city buses for 24 or 48 hours from first use.

The card is available in two versions and is best used for a focused city visit — one or two days packed with Roman monuments, medieval churches and Shakespeare's Verona.

24 hours or 48 hours — which is right for you?

The 24-hour card is best if you have one focused day in Verona. The 48-hour card pays off from the third or fourth attraction — most travellers spending two nights or more go for it.

Exchange your voucher for the physical card at the IAT Tourist Office (Via Leoncino 61, next to the Arena) — no printing needed.

    The cathedral complex, then walk five minutes to the Archaeological Museum with its terrace over the Adige.

    Castelvecchio

    The Scaliger fortress and its museum. Walk out onto the Ponte Scaligero for photos at golden hour.

    Sunset at Castel San Pietro

    Take an ATV city bus up (free with the card) or climb the steps from Ponte Pietra. The best view of Verona is from here.

For a 48-hour card, split day two between Basilica di San Zeno, GAM Achille Forti and Giardino Giusti — with room for a long lunch.

When to visit Verona

The best window is April to June or September to October — mild weather, long daylight, no summer crowds. July and August are hot (35 °C+) and busy, but they overlap with the Arena Opera Festival (mid-June to early September), which is why many people come. Winter is quiet and atmospheric, and on the first Sunday of every month from November to March the civic museums cost just €1 — which can be a better deal than the card if you're only staying one day.

Quick tip: Most civic museums close on Mondays. If your only day in Verona is a Monday, the card loses a chunk of its value — the Arena, Casa di Giulietta, Torre dei Lamberti and the churches stay open, but Castelvecchio, GAM and several others don't.

Frequently asked questions

When does the 24 or 48-hour countdown start?
The card is activated when you use it for the first time — either at a museum ticket office or on an ATV bus. From that moment the 24 or 48 hours run consecutively, so you can plan a full one- or two-day sightseeing block.
Do I still need to book Juliet's House?
Yes. Even with the Verona Card, entry to Casa di Giulietta requires a free time-slot reservation on museiverona.com — select the "VR Card" option. All other attractions can simply be visited during opening hours.
Is the Arena open every day?
The Arena is open daily but Monday mornings are shorter, and opening hours are reduced or shifted around Opera Festival performances (mid-June to early September) and public holidays. Always check the current schedule before your visit — especially if the Arena is your top priority.
Which sites are closed on Mondays?
Most civic museums close on Monday, including Castelvecchio, the Modern Art Gallery, the Natural History Museum, the Archaeological Museum at the Roman Theatre, and the Frescoes Museum at Juliet's Tomb. The Arena, Torre dei Lamberti and Casa di Giulietta usually stay open — but with reduced hours. Churches remain open.
Are children under 18 covered?
Children usually don't need a Verona Card at all: entry to the civic museums is free for anyone under 18 (under 8 at Torre dei Lamberti). For families, we recommend cards for the adults and free single tickets for the kids on site.
Can I use the card for the airport bus?
No. The Verona Card is only valid on ATV city buses. The Aerobus airport shuttle to Verona Villafranca Airport, intercity buses and the Castel San Pietro funicular are not included.
Can I get a refund if attractions are closed?
The Verona Card itself is not refundable in case of strikes, holidays, closed attractions or reduced opening hours. If you booked on Tiqets and haven't collected the physical card yet, you can cancel your booking free of charge until the day before the collection date.
